May 2007: It is time to get rid of this ugly "root beer" color and return the car to its former glory. The first step was to remove all the
chrome, rubber seals and door glass. The second step was to remove all the paint and take it down to bare metal. As expected there
was a ton of filler, some of it was applied at the factory. A very nice surprise is we have yet to find any significant corrosion or prior
collision damage. The car was chemically striped as I did not want to risk distorting the aluminum with any type of media blasting. It is
a slower process but much safer. After this is completed the windshield and dash will come out.
May 2007: Car is now in bare metal. The lighter colored metal is aluminum and the slightly darker metal is steel. The spyders are about 60% aluminum and
40% steel. Luckily this car has virtually no corrosion or accident damage. All and all I am very pleased with the condition of the body. Some of the panel
finish is a bit rough ... but we have the panel beaters at Carrozeria Frua in Italy to thank for that! The windshield has also removed and so was the dash. The
car is now at Flashback Motorworks where they will do the body prep and eventually paint it. My goal is to get it painted and back together by
mid-September ... so I can use it for the
MaserMiglia event. It will be tight as the interior will also need to be done!
early June 2007: Things are moving right along! The doors have been fitted and the car is now in final sanding. After sanding is completed the car will move
to the paint area where it will stay 2 or 3 weeks.
late June 2007: The painting has started! Doors, trunk lid and hood have been painted. The rest of the body should be completed by July 4.
July 2007: After a slight delay, the body is now painted ... this car is going to look nice when it is done!  I should be taking the car home the first week in August.
August 2007: The assembly has started. The seats are getting new leather in red. I decided to re-dye the rest of the interior to match the seats. Over time I will be
replacing some of the re-dyed leather and especially the carpeting. This permits me to get th
e car looking rather decent without the time and expense to completely
redo the interior
September 2007: Done! Dynamat was installed to add an extra layer of heat and noise suppression. Interior is mostly in. For now I've kept the vinyl tan soft top. It
will get replaced with black canvas top a
t a later date..

June 2008: Black canvas top installed. Carpets replaced, Door panels replaced, leather boot cover made to match the rest of the interior. Mechanically the fuel
injection plastic lines were replaced, all fuel lines replaced and a second Lucas fuel pump (aka: black bomb) installed. I can now switch between two fuel pumps.
