1962 Austin Healey 3000 MkII Triple carb
|
HBT7L13783 Engine: 29E/RU/H108
This is a rare triple carb version of the Austin Healey 3000 MKII (BT7) in very good restored condition. Healey blue paint and
body are both extremely nice. Car had a professional paint job about 5 years ago and the paint finish is smooth. Very good
chrome, new Triplex windshield, nice interior, soft top and bow in very good condition, clean and detailed engine compartment.
Gearbox was rebuilt a few years ago and it shifts very good. Has electric overdrive in working order. Engine starts right up and
has plenty of power. Frame is straight and rust free (but not detailed). Frame does not have any rust and does not show any
signs of prior accident damage. Tires may need to be balanced as there is some shaking at around 50 MPH. On August 28,
2004 an engine compression test was done and the results were very positive; all cylinders were within 10% of each other and
most were within 5%.
Includes the rare factory hard top! The rear plastic on the hard top is milky and should be replaced, these are available from
Moss Motors and others. Also included is the tonneau cover, soft top and bow, side curtains in bag, logoed rubber mats, spare
tire, knock off hammer, owner's manual, all in excellent condition. Very good tires, exhaust, battery, etc.
If you are looking for a big Healey, do not let this one pass by! Most Austin Healey have two carbs, the factory made the more
powerful triple carb model only for two years in limited numbers, assuring you will always have a very desirable car. According to
the book Austin-Healey Restoration Guide by Gary Anderson and Roger Moment, the "29E" engine designation was only used
on the triple carb engines, which were only produced from March 1961 through January 1962. "R" = overdrive, "U"= floor
shift(vs column shift) and "H"= high compression engine. The book further states "the three-carb engines have the highest
performance potential of any Healey. These engines are the powerplant of choice for most Healey vintage racers today".
